It’s that time of the year… Summer break is just a few weeks away! For most of us, that just means warmer weather but for the kids, it means weeks of freedom and fun. Luckily, Downtown Jacksonville is home to several fun and educational summer camps where kids of all ages can learn, be inspired, and make friends and memories.


MOCA Summer Art Camp

Where: MOCA Jacksonville: 333 N Laura St
MOCA Jacksonville’s Art Camp offers creative art-making for ages 4-14. Each week has an exciting different theme which differs throughout age groups. Youngsters get to craft cute creations like dinosaurs, cars and boats while the older groups work on exciting and inspiring projects using different mediums like photography and ceramics. Experienced art educators provide the contemporary art history context for each project. Register here.

Museum of Science and History – Summer Discovery Camp


When: 5-day sessions from June 5 – August 4
Where: Museum of Science and History: 1025 Museum Circle

Talk about a sweet summer! Campers get to be a chocolatier for a day by learning about the chocolate making process, dipping their own treats and coloring with edible paints. e, a Theatre Company is hosting a new summer camp program in partnership with Shortstack Theatre Company. Shortstack is the passion project of recent graduates from Jacksonville’s Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. These students, who ar
e currently pursuing fine arts degrees at colleges around the country, have returned home for the summer to share their love of theatre with the next generation of rising stars. The summer camp will consist of three one-week programs in July: the Flapjacks Acting Camp for five to 10 year-olds and the Hotcakes Acting Camp and Silver Dollar Musical Theatre Camp for rising sixth through tenth graders.
