Parking & Transportation

Get to game day your way! Carpool with the gang, catch a ride or arrive by water – whatever floats your boat, #DTJax has you covered.

If you’re driving:

There is no shortage of parking around EverBank Field but if you would like to make sure there is a guaranteed spot close to the stadium, your best bet is to purchase a parking pass ahead of time. This eliminates the uncertainty of parking prices and availability on game day. To purchase a parking pass ahead of time, please contact the Jaguars Ticket Office: (904) 633-2000.

If you are a season ticket holder, parking is already reserved for you in lots A, C, D, E, F, J, K, M, N, P, and R.

Wingin’ it? There are plenty of independent lots around the stadium that pop up on game day that do not require a pre-purchased parking pass. If you plan on parking in one of these lots, make sure you bring cash, almost none of these lots accept any other form of payment. It is a good idea to ask if the lot will be guarded and if it is well-lit (if you’re attending a night game).

Regardless of where you decide to park, here are a few game day tips to keep in mind:

- Don’t forget to display your ticket or pass on your dash or wherever that lot specifies. It’s easy to forget and walk into the stadium with it!

- Do not leave valuables in your car.

- If you are tailgating around your car, please be sure to pick up any trash before you head into the game. We love our beautiful Sports Complex!

Check out the stadium’s parking FAQs and a parking map here

If you want to catch a ride:

Taxis & ride-sharing:

Can’t decide on a designated driver? Don’t want to deal with parking? Catch a ride in! There are several convenient taxi and car service options that serve the Downtown area. You can find a list of them here.

Screen Shot 2017-09-15 at 1.22.07 PM

JEA’s Gameday XPRESS & tailgate:

If you have a large group of friends that wants to ride together, you’re weary of taxi prices on game day or you just want to ride out with a ton of other Jags fans, catch JEA’s Gameday XPRESS. For just $8 (or $55 for the season) roundtrip, you can ride in an air conditioned bus full of other game-day-goers to the stadium. Gameday XPRESS even holds their own tailgate party which is included in your $8 ticket! Find the schedule and purchase tickets here.

Make it an adventure – arrive by water:

aaEverBank Field is unique, not just for the larger-than-life video boards or the swimming pools, but also because it is one of the few NFL stadiums within walking distance to a river! Arrive to the Jags game in true River City fashion on the St. John’s River Taxi. Tickets are just $10 roundtrip or $20 if you want to make unlimited stops throughout the day. Service begins at 11 a.m. (or 3 hours before kickoff, whichever is earlier) and continues running after the game ends until metro docks are clear. The Game Day River Taxi service stops at:

Game day tickets are cash only and can be purchased at the boat on game day. Coolers and strollers permitted. Find more info here.

Summer camps are a dime a dozen but there are none quite like the 5 & Dime Theatre Summer Camp in #DTJax. Hosted by the theatre company that recently put down roots in Downtown, it is a true hands on and well-rounded learning experience in all things theatre. The camp spans from age 5 all the way through tenth grade, each week dedicated to a specific age group so that content can be altered appropriately. Youngsters play theatre-related games and learn the basics while the older crowd works on honing their craft and building on what they already know. The third round (July 24 – July 28) is designated specifically to musical theatre, giving campers the opportunity to expand their love for musical theatre through musical song and dance numbers and solo work. Every age group puts on a performance on their final day to show off what they’ve learned.

Screen Shot 2017-07-14 at 10.03.34 AMI had the opportunity to pay the 5-10 year old group a visit this week and while the games were wildly fun and thoroughly educational, the most impressive thing that I encountered were the instructors. There were 5 instructors for the class of 16 children which is a pretty incredible and rare ratio when it comes to summer camps. This made for a much more organized environment conducive to learning; the campers all receiving individual attention and instruction. And though the instructors have the patience of experienced elementary school teachers, they are all theatre students at well-respected universities – they’re the real deal.

Screen Shot 2017-07-14 at 9.53.39 AMThough I was only there for a short time, the thing that I liked most about what I observed was that the instructors encouraged the campers to be brave and “perform” alone in front of the crowd, to cheer each other on, to respect each other and to be polite while others are on stage. The instructors also stressed theatre etiquette. Multiple times, they asked the campers, “What do we do when someone comes off stage, regardless of their performance?” and everyone yelled, “We clap!” and started clapping.

I got to ask the campers and instructors a few questions, here’s what they had to say:

Campers:

Q: What has been your favorite part of summer camp so far?

A: Playing games

A: Making sock puppets and masks

A: Arts and crafts

Q: What is the coolest thing you’ve learned so far at summer camp?

A: Learning about theatre

A: Theatre etiquitte

A: The history of theatre

Q: Do you guys want to do summer camp again next year?

A: A loud, roaring “YES!”

Instructors:

Q: How long have you guys been acting?

MacKenzy: I have been acting since 4th grade, Alec has been acting since 6th grade and Avery and Nathaniel started in high school.

Emily: I’ve been acting since about 5th grade.

Q: What made you guys want to teach summer camp here at 5 & Dime rather than somewhere else?

MacKenzy: I think because we have learned so much from the Jacksonville community and this is our time to give back.

Q: What do you enjoy most about teaching summer camp?

MacKenzy: I just love seeing how excited they get to come back. When they leave with their parents, they’re like, “No we don’t wanna leave!” and that right there just makes everything doable and worth it.

Emily: Yeah, seeing how excited they get is definitely the best part.

Q: Name one thing that you like about Downtown:

MacKenzy: Everything is local and the arts and theatre seem to be appreciated here. That’s one of the best parts about being at the 5 & Dime is that it’s Downtown.

Emily: You don’t find a lot of chains here. Everything here is very much like locals just found a nook and started a business and you find that on every corner.

Q: If you could change anything about Downtown, what would it be?

MacKenzy: I wish it was a little cleaner.

Emily: Get rid of the one-way streets.

Red Dawn

18252164_625275491009464_6769779571383336960_n

It’s no coincidence that we start out this list with a drink from Dos Gatos – it’s easily one of the BEST bars for amazing craft cocktails Downtown. This is their creation, the Red Dawn. It’s a modern spin on the Moscow mule and is created with fresh seasonal berries, Russian Standard vodka, ginger liqueur and ginger beer.

Ms. Mac’s Peach Tea

17882815_1854826761438926_3926296318447714304_nWe’re in the South – there’s no way we couldn’t include this peach tea concoction! The craft cocktail masters at The Volstead knew what they were doing when they created this masterpiece: Medley Bros Bourbon, Cynar, Sweet Tea, Peach, Mint, and Lemon.

Strawberry Basil Wheat-Rita

13266774_958270920937162_1309217813_nThe name says it all! Think margarita… but more refreshing with a strawberry basil kick. Beautiful day for a rooftop bar? Hop over to Burrito Gallery Brooklyn and enjoy this summer-in-a-cup wheat-rita. Too hot to be outside? Check out the Burrito Gallery Downtown location and bar-hop around the Elbow while you’re at it.

Big John’s Apricot Wheat Ale

unnamedWe’ve been waiting all year for the release of Bold City’s Big John’s Apricot Wheat Ale. It’s a summer must-try because it’s only available in the summer! Not to mention it’s pretty much summer in a glass. Stop by the new Downtown location and have a pint (or a few).

Popsicle Mimosa

Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 12.10.43 PMIf Willy Wonka owned a bar, it would be Candy Apple Cafe & Cocktails and his drink of choice would definitely be the Popsicle Mimosa. This Instagram-worthy drink is everything you love about a mimosa combined with the only thing that could make a mimosa better… a popsicle. It doesn’t get more summer than a popsicle, bubbly and juice.

You can’t buy your dad happiness but you can buy him chocolate… which is basically the same thing. Stop by Mocha Misk’i and grab a few sweet treats for dad (and a few for yourself). Our recommendation? The Milky Way cheesecake brownie.

One of the defining and most unique things about our downtown is that it is waterfront. Many people are drawn to live and open businesses in #DTJax because of its proximity to water. As residents, sometimes we forget all of the awesome waterfront and water activities that Downtown Jacksonville has to offer! This summer, we challenge you to experience #DTJax like a tourist and get out on the water to enjoy one of the most unique features Downtown has to offer.

Friendship Fountain

Screen Shot 2017-06-09 at 2.43.42 PMIs summer really summer without a photo in front of Friendship Fountain? Situated at the west end of the Southbank Riverwalk adjacent to the Museum of Science and History is Friendship Fountain. Dedicated in 1965, it is one of the largest self-contained fountains built, pumping 3,500 to 6,500 gallons of water per minute to a height of 100 feet, with 265 lights molding the water into a sparkling mist. Whether you are looking for a peaceful place for a picnic, or just want to watch the river flow by, Friendship Fountain provides the ideal setting for a sunny afternoon or a romantic evening Downtown.

In 2010, the City of Jacksonville broke ground on park improvements. The $3.1 million project included restoring full functionality to the fountain, updating the fountain’s lighting and adding green space, landscaping and pedestrian accents to the park. Find more info in the listing in our directory here.
