Downtown Jacksonville is the urban center of Northeast Florida, and is situated about 25 miles south of the Georgia border and less than 150 miles north of Orlando. Centered on the banks of the St. Johns River, Jacksonville is one of the five largest populated cities on the East Coast.
Downtown Jacksonville is central to many attractions, from the beaches and golf courses to state parks and off shore islands, all within an hour drive.
Downtown is accessible by plane, boat and highway. Jacksonville International Airport is just minutes from Downtown, with non-stop flights to major U.S. cities. The St. Johns River marinas are full of boaters from all over. Downtown is the place to be on the river, with docking on both sides of the river for a great view of the city. Two major interstate highways, I-95 and I-10, intersect in Downtown Jacksonville, giving drivers easy access to and from Downtown.
Within Downtown there are many modes of transportation, from buses and trolleys to river taxis and the skyway. Along with motorized transportation there are plenty of sidewalks to all places of work or play and bike racks throughout Downtown.
