2019 #DTJax Awards: Bellwether, Small Business of the Year

Left to Right: Jake Gordon, Jonathan Insetta, Allan DeVault, Numa Saisselin

New this year, Downtown Vision added the Small Business of the Year award to recognize a street-level retailer who has enhanced the Downtown experience for everyone living, working and visiting DTJax. This inaugural award goes to Bellwether restaurant and partners Jon Insetta and Allan DeVault.

A recipient of the Downtown Investment Authority’s Retail Enhancement Grant, Bellwether opened in 2017 and has been a favorite ever since. Named after the leader of a herd of sheep, Bellwether is the sister restaurant of Jacksonville’s favorite elevated dining: Orsay, Black Sheep and BLK SHP at Intuition.

Bellwether offers a high-end, fast casual dining that has helped elevate the Downtown dining scene, with a large variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options to cater to all tastes and needs. The restaurant’s core menu focuses on Southern classics and expands seasonally to reflect emerging trends and flavors mixed with Northeast Florida flair.

Outside of the kitchen, Bellwether partners with Jacksonville businesses with a rotating selection of craft beer from Northeast Florida breweries; a full bar stocked with regional spirits; and cold brew coffee from Bold Bean Coffee Roasters.

Thank you, Jon and Allan for bringing Bellwether to #DTJax!
