#ArtWalkJax Artist Highlight: Garage Roses

Author: Laken Chaney, Downtown Vision Marketing and Events Assistant

Meet the Artist: Olivia Gonzalez

Medium: Acrylic and Mixed Media. Bright, happy art, vibrant colors and textures in various sizes created on gallery wrapped canvas, cradled birch and paper.

Highlight: New #ArtWalkJax vendor, Olivia Gonzalez, is the creator and artist behind Garage Roses. Olivia’s art is an eclectic blend of islands, oceans, little cities and flowers that are often inspired by travel.

“I want my art to make people FEEL GOOD and hope it brings just a little magic and imagination to those who stumble across it.”

As a lifetime daydreamer, Olivia seeks to turn her daydreams and love into works of art. She uses extraordinary colors and texture to turn her dreams into reality, and spreads love and happiness to all who view her art. Olivia is a self-taught artist and has been painting, sketching and writing her entire life. Each day, she challenges herself to do one thing for her art and to relentlessly pursue her dreams.

“Most days are spent in my art studio with paint covered fingertips and pencils tucked into my hair; my three soul puppies to keep me company while I lose myself in my work and watch as beaches and blooms begin to make an appearance under brush stroke, lines and pigment.”

Olivia Gonzalez is a frequent vendor at the Riverside Arts Market, and we are looking forward to having her join us as a First Wednesday Art Walk vendor. Make sure to stop by and see the Garage Roses booth at James Weldon Johnson Park on October 6th!
