Veterans Day Parade, November 11 at 11 a.m.

Join the City of Jacksonville for the annual Veterans Day Parade Presented by The Law Offices of Ron Sholes, P.A., to honor Jacksonville’s veterans and active-duty military.

This patriotic parade features grand marshals, senior military officials, active-duty and retired military, veterans groups, local high school marching bands, decorative floats, giant balloons, JROTC units and more!

The 2021 route begins at the corner of N Jefferson St and Water St and heads East on Water St. to Laura St, the parade will then head North on Laura St. to James Weldon Johnson Park and will turn left on Duval St. and then left on Hogan St to W. Adams St., the parade will then head West on Adams St ending at Lee St.

JEA Headquarters

Downtown Chilled Water Project

JEA is continuing its work to install new chilled water lines that will serve the new JEA Headquarters. To complete the connection to the existing chilled water system, JEA must temporarily interrupt chilled water service to the Main Public Library and the Jake Godbold Building (Public Defender’s Office). To maintain service to these buildings, JEA will be installing temporary “chillers” and service lines on W. Duval Street.

For the safety of crews and the general public, JEA will be required to temporarily close and detour traffic around W. Duval Street from N. Main Street to N. Laura Street while the work is completed. Please see the work area and detour map below.

This work will not impact the normal operations of the electric, water or sewer service for these buildings. Please observe all construction signs, detours, and general directions provided by the crews working on-site. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes when available and plan ahead for minor traffic delays. The City’s Main Library Parking lot on W. Duval Street will remain open. Please use extreme caution entering and exiting the garage.

The closure and detour of W. Duval Street will not occur until after the Veteran’s Day parade activities (around 3 p.m.).
