New Murals:
Corkscrew Park

Have you heard the news? There are two new murals located under the Acosta Bridge at Corkscrew Park, made possible by Downtown Vision, the Downtown Dwellers and the City of Jacksonville. Thanks to artist, David Nackashi, these stunning murals honor Jacksonville’s roots and first moniker, Cowford. Check out the new mural additions next time you visit the Northbank Riverwalk! Learn more.

Happy Birthday,
JWJ Park

Today, we celebrate James Weldon Johnson Park‘s 156th birthday. On this day in 1866, Isaiah Hart sold the land to the City of Jacksonville for $10. The park is Jacksonville’s first and oldest park and the site of many significant historic events. Since the park’s origin, the park has been the cultural and social center of the city, the heart of Downtown and the public meeting place for citizens from all walks of life.

Next Week:
First Wednesday Art Walk

Join us next Wednesday, February 2nd, from 5 to 9 p.m. for another First Wednesday Art Walk in #DTJax. Stroll between the main art hubs and stop at the many participating businesses along the way. Shop with local creatives, listen to live music, enjoy two live comic shows during Art Walk at the Breezeway at VyStar Tower and dine on delicious eats! Learn more.

Downtown’s Favorite Party Returns!

#DTJax Gala: Classic Hollywood Presented by Community First Credit Union

Benefitting Downtown Vision’s placemaking initiatives

When:
Friday, February 25th | 6-9 p.m.
Where:
Eight Forty One, 841 Prudential Drive.

Join us for the 7th Annual #DTJax Gala: Classic Hollywood. In the early 1900s, Jacksonville was the  “World’s Winter Film Capital”, attracting more than 30 film studios and serving as the location for more than 800 popular silent films. While the chaos and disruption of early-industry film production was too much for Jacksonville’s citizens, this moment in our city’s time is iconic and unique. Travel back in time with us to the early days of film, with glitz, glamour and elegance.

This event features live musical performances, decadent eats and luxurious libations.
