Laura Street named as APA “Great Street”
The American Planning Association (APA) has recognized Laura Street on their annual Great Places in America list as one of the top five streets in the country. Join us at 5:30 p.m. in Hemming park during Art Walk as we celebrate this exciting recognition with local and national planning leaders.

 

#ProstDTJax! Oktoberfest @ Art Walk returns tomorrow, Oct. 7
Tomorrow is the big day! DVI is excited to present its third-annual Oktoberfest @ Art Walk, a benefit for Downtown’s signature event, First Wednesday Art Walk.Hosted by Curtis Dvorak (First Coast Living correspondent and former Jaxson de Ville mascot), make plans to grab a frosty stein and toast to great art, music and German culture, all wrapped into one fun-filled, extended Art Walk night tomorrow, Oct. 7, 5 – 10 p.m. Highlights include:
  • Special celebration of an exciting Laura Street recognition (American Planning Association “Great Street”) at 5:30 p.m. with local and national urban-planning leaders
  • Tapping of the keg ceremony at 6 p.m. with Mayor Lenny Curry, Bold City Brewery and host Curtis Dvorak
  • Authentic biergarten with a variety of German beers, plus $1 off beer if you bring your own stein (up to 16 ounces)
  • Two stages of Oompah bands: Dan Witucki & The Heimat Musikanten Band in Hemming Park and One Step Ahead of the Law Brass Band at The Jacksonville Landing
  • Kinderfest zone, carnival zone and Food Truck Village for all ages along Laura Street from Monroe Street to The Landing
  • Special programming at The Landing, including two stages of live music, free pumpkin patch, hay rolling, a German Shepherd meet-up, German-themed food and craft beer
  • Ticketed VIP tent ($35 per person) with unlimited beers and food provided by Burrito Gallery next to Hemming Park’s main stage
  • Kick off of Art Walk After Dark in The Elbow from 9 p.m. to late.
