Fall and Halloween Events in Downtown Jacksonville

It’s spooky season here in #DTJax, and we are more than ready for all things Halloween — and Fall in general. We are coming at you with a list of events happening this month so you can make some festive plans to get yourself into the Fall/Halloween spirit. We know some people prefer a happy and light Halloween while others prefer the scary stuff, so we have included both! Whether you want to bring the kids along or make it a date night, you have hit the jackpot with this lineup.

Join James Weldon Johnson Park for Hollow’s Fest: A week of Costumes & Candy. Every day for the week of 10/26 to 10/30 during lunchtime from 11am to 2pm for themed costume days, Halloween fun, food trucks and Live at Lunch performances! The themes are as followed:

Monday: Disney Day with a Live at Lunch performance from Kalani Rose
Tuesday: Superheroes Vs. Super-Villains
Wednesday: Fright Night! along with Jazz in the park with Joe Watts
Thursday: Bewitched: “The Coven”
Friday: Duval Dress-up Jam with a Live at Lunch performance from The Groove Coalition


Laugh Lounge Halloween Comedy Showcase

Get your giggles in at the Laugh Lounge for their Comedy Showcase — Halloween Edition. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th the show begins! This isn’t your average comedy show, it is a Halloween Edition. The Laugh Lounge will have themed photo booths, a costume contest and a haunted graveyard. Make your final decision on your Halloween costume and plan for a fun and frightening evening at the Lounge. 


Sweet Pete’s Fall Classes

Time to get to the sweet stuff — I mean, that is what Halloween is all about. At this point, if you are an avid #DTJax blog reader, you know we have our own go-to for all things candy, aka Sweet Pete’s. Sweet Pete’s Candy is our holy grail and probably is yours too. Sweet Pete’s is hosting candy classes all October long with three different themed classes including; Fall Apple classes, Sugar Skull classes and Smashing Pumpkin classes. These classes are happening all week long. This is a perfect activity for the kids and one that they will probably ask to do again. 


Holiday Society Porch Decorating Contest

Attention all Historic Springfield residents it is that time of the year again, the SPAR Council Fall Holiday Society Porch Decorating Contest is back in action. If this isn’t a contest for all HGTV & holiday decorating lovers, I’m not sure what is. Unleash your inner Joanna Gaines and get to decorating! There is no cost to participate in this contest, all you have to do is register (by October 10th, hurry!). In order to register, send an email including your full name and home address to holidaysociety@sparcouncil.org. The judging will take place on October 26th & 27th and winners will be announced at Music on Main on October 28th.


Halloween Doors & More

You are now entering drive-in movie territory and we are here for it all. The Jacksonville Fairgrounds is hosting Halloween Doors & More, a three-night drive-in movie experience for the family from October 15th to the 17th. The night has a specific theme, Safari Life. It is encouraged to wear your best safari costume and decorate your vehicle! We have included the schedule below.

Monsters, Inc. – Thursday, October 15, 2020, 7:30 p.m.

Toy Story – Friday, October 16, 2020, 7:30 p.m.

Monsters, Inc. – Saturday, October 17, 2020, 4:00 p.m.

Sun-Ray Cinema Halloween at the Drive-In

More drive-in movie options — hooray! Sun-Ray Cinema has lined up a very very spooky movie list for the whole month of October. The line up includes movies such as; Possessor, The Wolf of Snow Hollow and Little Shop of Horrors. Tickets are sold per car, not by the person and double feature tickets are available for the nights with two showings! Circle up your friend group and choose your favorite movie, it’s sure to be a fun night.

Jumbo Shrimp Fall Festival

Take me out to the Fall game, take me out to the crowd. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are hosting a Fall Festival on October 31st from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the ballpark! Featuring trick-or-treats tables and contests all festival long. The contests include; a Costume contest, Mummy Wrap contest, Pumpkin Mini Golf contest, and a Jumbo Shrimp Neck Pillow Toss. Tickets are only $7 (cards only), and there will be free parking offered in Lot P. All concessions will be available as well as adult beverages. Make your Halloween a fun one at the Jumbo Shrimp Stadium!


Go Tuk’n Witches Brew Tour

Hey witches, this ones for you! Go Tuk’n is having their first ever “Witches Brew Tour” and you don’t want to miss it. They will be taking you on a magical 6 ½ hour ride to some of the best breweries in town. Costumes for this ride are highly encouraged and could potentially end in you winning a spooky surprise! Hop on your witches broom and fly over to Go Tuk’ns website to claim your spot, with only two days of tours there is limited availability, so fly fast!


Intuition Ale Works Six Nights of Halloween

Brand new seasonal beer and classic Halloween movies? We are in for a trick-or-TREAT. Six nights in a row Intuition will be playing Halloween movies on the big screen and you are invited. There is no extra payment for the movie but they ask that no other food or drink is brought in.
