Fall in love with Downtown’s art scene at February’s Art Walk

Downtown is gearing up with Valentine’s Day festivities and the fun all kicks off with the First Wednesday Art Walk on Feb. 4 from 5-9 p.m. The theme, “Art from the HeART,” is all about local artists, performers, foodies, family and friends getting together in the heart of Downtown. From our first-ever drag show, “The Art Walk Cabaret,” presented by Karissa Wade, live musical performances by Chaquis Maliq, hair and makeup tutorials by the Daniel James Salon, and a hugging booth featuring a Jacksonville Sharks football player, Art Walk is sure to spread the love to singles, couples and everyone in between.

Did we mention there will be beer and delicious eats, too?

Southlight Gallery and The Art Center Cooperative, Inc. will liven up Hogan Street with free face painting, photos with The Big Red Chair, live music by Akia Uwanda and free roses to the first 100 ladies to go to Southlight Gallery. Did we also mention that The Natural Body Spa and Shoppe is giving free chair massages? Talk about being pampered for free.

Don’t stop there! Stroll onto Laura Street, where you will enjoy delicious pizza from Humble Pie, take a photo with that special someone in the Tin Can Photo Lounge, create your own Valentine, hug a Sharks football player and even get drawn as a caricature by artist Roosevelt Watson III. Walk a little farther to Chamblin’s Uptown & Cafe and Visit Jacksonville, where there will be even more artists, musical performances and a “Shred Your Baggage” booth to shred away unwanted problems in your life. The Food Truck Village is family-friendly, and The Jacksonville Landing is always jamming to exciting music performed by local artists.
