Mardi Gras Meets #DTJax

Mardi Gras is a tradition that dates back thousands of years to pagan celebrations of spring and fertility. People usually think of New Orleans when they hear Mardi Gras, but really it’s celebrated in many places around the world making it one of the most famous public festivities, drawing thousands of tourists every year!

Are you ready to get your Mardi Gras on? This month, Downtown Jacksonville is hosting a Mardi Gras-themed Art Walk on March 6th!

If you didn’t already know, Art Walk is a free, monthly event that showcases Downtown at its full potential, promoting Jacksonville’s museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars. It’s a festivity held on the first Wednesday of each month, rain or shine!

Head down to #DTJax to experience Jacksonville’s version of Mardi Gras!

Headquarters in Hemming Park

Mardi Gras wouldn’t be the same without a procession (parade). Bring your masks, beads and noise makers and join us at the intersection at of Laura St. and Bay St. at 5:45 p.m.

Stroll in style down Laura St., led by Spice and Po Boys, and end at Hemming Park.

Spice and the Po Boys deliver a mix of R&B, Blues-Rock and Pop; don’t miss them on the Main Stage until 8 p.m.

Don’t forget to stop by the Art Walk tent to get your very own masks and colorful beads to get in the spirit of Mardi Gras while supplies last!

Kid Zone in Hemming Park

Art walk is perfect for all ages! Kids can enjoy fun activities by MyGym, face painting and jump roping by Jump 4 Jax.

Food Truck Valley

Food tastes better when you eat it in #DTJax!

The Food Truck Valley is officially moved up to Laura Street! Stroll down Laura for crowd favorites like Fusion, Hapa Li, Latin Soul Grille, Back to the Grind, Nitrogen Creamery, Rocco’s Pizzeria, Humble Wood Fire and much more!

There will also be live music presented by Lets Ride Brass Band!

Vagabond Flea at Hogan Street

Visit this creatively curated market featuring local artists, quality makers, upcyclers, antique sellers, and more! Stop by Hogan St. in front of Vagabond Coffee Bodega to check it out!

Front Porch at Landing

Address: 2 W Independent Dr.
Time: 5 – 9 p.m.

Be sure to visit the Front Porch at the Jacksonville Landing and enjoy local musicians, artists and vendors. This month’s theme: St. Patrick’s Day!

Make sure to wear green and sing your heart out at karaoke by Party Solution Entertainment. Plus, enjoy green beer!

Each month, Art Walk hosts dozens of artists, seeking to show and sell their works. From jewelry to paintings and more, you’ll find a mix of unique, handmade items from both emerging and established artists.

Here are some nightlife options for those who want to keep the Mardi Gras party alive!

The Volstead: Mardi Gras Bayou Bash

Get a taste of the Bayou at The Volstead during #Artwalkjax! Everyone knows that only the best things come out of the Big Easy (Sazeracs, Jazz and Beignets being the proof), so join them for a little Voodoo and enjoy some swinging jazz from The Raisin Cake Orchestra, themed cocktails, swamp chic decor and a little mystic mojo. Must be 21+ to attend. Details.

Myth Nightclub: Silent Disco

Address: 333 E Bay St.
Time: 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.

Myth Nightclub and Silent Sound Proudly Presents: March Music Madness Edition – Featuring 5 different channels of music (4 in headphones, 1 on the sound system in the main room) with over a dozen of the regions best DJ’s and producers!

The Justice Pub: Cien Calavera Cuban Art Show & Fundraiser

Address: 315 E Bay St.
Time: 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Amigo Tattoo and the Justice Pub will host the 100 Calaveras Art Show.

Over 100 skull shapes were cut out from old skateboards and were distributed to artists all around the USA to be customized, displayed and then sold to raise money. All proceeds go directly to aid Cuban artists!

Amigo Tattoo is dedicated to helping Cuban artists and improving their conditions and fostering relationships with artists in North America and Cuba! Details.
