Zombies, Monsters and Cocktails… OH MY!

It’s that time of year again! Where being the scariest, creepiest, weirdest and the most outrageous isn’t frowned upon, but instead, celebrated! Spook your way out to these events if you’re looking for a howling good time!

Monster Mash Dash
Oct. 14 | 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. | Cost: Multiple ticket options
Location: Jacksonville Fairgrounds

Zombies hate fast food, so make your way out to the Monster Mash Dash with Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. Let your imagination run wild in this wacky 5K run, costumes are greatly encouraged and children & families can enjoy food, fun and live entertainment. Come have a special night out by the Jacksonville Fairgrounds and enjoy some Halloween goodies. Best part of it all, registration helps support quality care for medically complex children in Northeast Florida!

Location: Hemming Park

Are you ready for a zombie apocalypse?! Come out to the Jacksonville ZombieFest in Hemming Park, this year it’s going to be bigger, better and creepier than before. This event is will be crawling with zombies and other deadly creatures.  Enjoy food trucks, make-up artists, a costume contest and other activities for the undead crowd. Crawl your way to the live entertainment at the Hourglass Pub after party.

Yappy Hour HOWL-o-ween & Oktoberfest
Oct. 16 | 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.  | Cost: Free
Location: The Jacksonville Landing

Bring your furry friends to the biggest, dogtastic costume contest in Jacksonville!  There will be plenty of activities for dogs and pet-lovers to enjoy from a pet expo, games, prizes, drink specials and live music at the Jacksonville Landing.

 

 

MOSH presents Corpses & Cocktails Adult Camp–in
Oct. 22 | 6:30 p.m. – 8 a.m.  | Cost: $125
Location: Museum of Science & History (MOSH)

Are you brave enough to sleep amongst the living dead?! If so, MOSH will give you a night filled with thrills and chills.  This 21-and-up theme night is filled with cocktail concoctions, a daring buffet with devilish delights by Taco Lu, a Spooky Science show and a special walk-through of what it really means to work with the dead. After-hour activities become more excruciatingly thrilling as the night carries on. Buy your tickets today!

The Rocky Horror Picture show
Oct. 29 | 8 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. | Cost: $15
Location: Florida Theatre

The Florida Theatre will be putting on a theatrical showing of the ultimate Halloween movie. The 1975 musical is a tribute to the science fiction “B Movies” of the 40’s and 50’s. Its amazing cast included then young actors Tim Curry as mad scientist Dr. Frank N. Furter, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as our heroine and hero, Meat Loaf, Jonathan Adams, and Charles Gray. So, throw on your wackiest clothes and join the spectacle! For any first timers coming to the show, here are few rules and etiquette tips to keep in mind.

Trick or Treat on the Street

Location: Downtown Businesses

Celebrate Halloween this year with #DTJax employees as they wear their best & wildest costumes for the 4th annual Trick or Treat on the Street.  #DTJax businesses will be set up in or near their storefronts handing out candy, coupons and other promotional goodies. Grab a group of friends and family, a great costume and go trick-or-treating in #DTJax.
