About: Five years ago, Downtown Vision launched the #DTJax Gala to celebrate Downtown Jacksonville and raise funds for the Lively and Beautiful Sidewalks (LABS) Program, which is dedicated to making Downtown more vibrant and active. In 2020, on our 20th anniversary as Downtown Jacksonville’s Business Improvement District, we thought it only fitting to celebrate the Roaring 20s and Jacksonville’s jazz heritage at our 5th annual #DTJax Gala.
This year’s #DTJax Gala: Feeling Ritzy will be the bee’s knees, featuring an interactive exhibit from our friends at the Ritz Theatre and Museum to bring our fantastic LaVilla heritage to life. A major destination for jazz, ragtime and blues music, LaVilla was once known as the Harlem of the South. It was the epicenter of black culture and commerce in Northeast Florida, as well as Jacksonville’s railroad hub.
The evening will also feature live jazz performers, swing dancers, food and drink from our favorite Downtown establishments, a silent auction, photo booth, and for our sponsors, a VIP lounge with a private Bubbly Bar.
Check out our blog post to read what to know before you go to the Gala.
