A pop up skateboard event between DVI (PlacemakingJax) and The Block Skate Supply in the business improvement district in Downtown Jacksonville.
Grab your skateboard, rollerblades and wheels and join us on Go Skate Day on June 24th from 4-9 p.m. at 201 East Beaver Street. Look forward to contests, giveaways, cash prizes and transforming a parking lot into an active public space in the Cathedral District. All ages and experience levels are welcome!
Why skateboarding?
The Global SLS Championship was hosted in Jax two years in a row. Host cities are typically not repeated, but since our local skate scene is so powerful, organizers insisted. Block Supply has implemented a series of skate events to gather, educate, inspire and continue the cultural momentum of the community. This is the first of a series of street-level activations that will take place in the Business Improvement District (BID) and target skaters, artists, under-served youth and those interested in action sports. Additionally, these gatherings bring awareness to the Artist Walk and Skate Park coming to our BID across from some of the most popular placemaking happening in Jacksonville, the Riverside Arts Market.
The Block along with Downtown Vision Inc. will create a skate event by and for local skateboarders celebrating the creativity and diversity of the Jacksonville skate scene. The Block will bring in skate elements creating a small skatepark for skaters to showcase their skills for chances to win upwards of $3,000 in cash and prizes. We’ll have music, drinks (beer and soda), food and a handful of local vendors to support the event. Vendors will include a DJ, food trucks, retail vendors, and will be open and free to the public as
long as they sign a waiver and get a wristband.
Only events occurring within Downtown Jacksonville will be accepted.
