The Keynote

We are proud to announce our Keynote Speaker! Jacksonville native Javontae Williams, a nurse and nationally recognized public health advocate, currently serves as the HIV Prevention Program Manager at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. In this role, he engages community members impacted by health disparities and provides leadership to organizations on the frontlines of health delivery.

Sharing the keynote role is Sam Ames (they/he), who is the Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs at The Trevor Project. They are a civil rights attorney, author, and national advocate with fifteen years of experience fighting for LGBTQ rights, with a focus on transgender youth and conversion therapy. Javontae Williams and Sam Ames will speak on the theme of the Coming Out Day Breakfast, “Stand with LGBTQIA+ Young People.”

The Diamond Award

We are thrilled to present this year’s Diamond Award, our highest honor for persons who have significantly contributed to the safety, health and well-being of LGBTQ young people in Jacksonville, to VyStar Credit Union CEO Brian Wolfburg. JASMYN CEO Cindy Watson cites Mr. Wolfburg’s energy and focus on improving the lives of marginalized young people all across our City, and presenting them with a role model for success that is community-based and directed by those it serves.

Dr. Raoul Sanchez of the Carithers Pediatric Group will receive the Emerald Award for his volunteer work to enhance the lives of LGBTQIA+ young people in Northeast Florida.
