First Wednesday Art Walk

Downtown Vision has proudly hosted the First Wednesday Art Walk since 2003 to welcome people to DTJax and celebrate the community’s deep pool of creative talent.

Art Walk has returned after a break due to the pandemic and now takes place monthly! We invite you to bring your family, friends and coworkers for a self-guided tour of Downtown’s northbank core on the first Wednesday of every month. Explore three major hubs: James Weldon Johnson Park, The Jessie (duPont Center) and Vagabond Flea at The Breezeway at Vystar Tower, and all the businesses and public art between. Art Walk runs 5-9 p.m., rain or shine. Masks encouraged.

James Weldon Johnson Park

135 W. Monroe Street

Browse works by local artists, grab a quick bite at one of our food trucks, and listen to live performances while sipping a beer at James Weldon Johnson Park’s Beer Garden.

Artists and food trucks in James Weldon Johnson Park must apply through Downtown Vision.

Special thank you to our friends, Friends of James Weldon Johnson Park!

The Jessie

40 E. Adams St.

Each month, the Jessie Ball duPont Center curates an amazing array of local art and performers with a focus on equity and community. Central to the experience is the Corner Gallery, curated by Shawana Brooks. The Jessie is an art gallery in its own right. Learn about the many public art pieces.

December Art Walk Highlights

Walk down to The Jessie to see more arts and culture. In the lobby, find a photo-op with a Holiday Tree with Santa Claus, browse art works by students in South Africa, shop with local vendors and experience the Corner Gallery Exhibit with artist Tony Rodrigues. On the second floor, LOL Films will be showing movies all night with free admissions and popcorn! Then on the Corner Gallery Porch enjoy dance performances by In the Midst Dance Group. And if you’re hungry,  Viva La Familia and Kravegan are slinging food in the Loading Dock where you’ll find Jump4Jax double-dutching and jump-roping and catch a Live Surprise Band Performance!

Special thanks to our friends, the duPont Fund!

The Breezeway at Vystar Tower + The Vagabond Flea

100 W. Bay St.

Nestled in VyStar Credit Union’s headquarters lies one of Downtown’s best breezeways. Each month, The Vagabond Flea will be filling the The Breezeway at Vystar Tower with unique artists. Stop by to shop, dine, and drink at The Bread and Board Provisions, and end your evening with a cocktail on the Estrella Cocina rooftop. Bundle up with some hot cocoa provided by Vagabond Coffee.

Special thanks to our friends at VyStar Credit Union, Vagabond Coffee Co. and The Bread and Board!
