Downtown Vision has proudly hosted the First Wednesday Art Walk since 2003 to welcome people to DTJax and celebrate the community’s deep pool of creative talent.
We’re excited to announce the return of this beloved Downtown event in October 2021. We invite you to bring your family, friends and coworkers for a self-guided tour of Downtown’s northbank core on the first Wednesday of every month. Explore three major hubs: James Weldon Johnson Park, The Jessie (duPont Center) and Vagabond Flea at the Vystar Breezeway, and all the businesses and public art between. Art Walk runs 5-9 p.m., rain or shine. Masks encouraged.
Browse works by local artists, grab a quick bite at one of our food trucks, and listen to live performance while sipping a beer at James Weldon Johnson Park’s Beer Garden.
Each month, the Jessie Ball duPont Center curates an amazing array of local art and performers with a focus on equity and community. Central to the experience is the Corner Gallery, curated by Shawana Brooks. The Jessie is an art gallery in its own right. Learn about the many public art pieces.
Nestled in VyStar Credit Union’s headquarters lies one of Downtown’s best breezeways. Each month, The Vagabond Flea will be filling the VyStar Breezeway with unique artists. Stop by to shop, dine, and drink at The Bread and Board Provisions, and end your evening with a cocktail on the Estrella Cocina rooftop.
Reimbursable programming stipends are available for businesses within the event footprint.

Parking is free after 6 p.m. Art Walk night at meters.
A unique and scenic way to get around Downtown, the elevated Skyway will take you down the block or all the way across the St. Johns River for free, with extended hours during Art Walk.
Art walk is centered around James Weldon Johnson Park, our home base, which is a fully wheelchair accessible 1.54 acre public park in the heart of Downtown.
